MESSIN' AROUND
When Messin’ Around club nights started at The Jazz Café in London in 1996, we thought that if we manage 4 weeks, we’d be the Dons! After all, it’s The Jazz Cafè - THE leading Jazz Club in the UK. In addition, the idea of a Dance Group co-promoting and hosting a club session was and still is unique but why not, we thought, bringing together a combination of Music and Dance in a club session is surely a good idea; little did we know that Messin’ Around would become the longest running club night in the Jazz Café history and one of the longest running Saturday club nights in London.
Messin’ Around has always prided itself as being a session for those who appreciate good music and the Messin’ Around DJs have worked hard, delving into vaults and dusty warehouses around the world for the Hard Funk, Boogie, danceable Latin and Jazz to ensure the quality is maintained.
As Jazzcotech Dancers, we wanted to show that dancing to Jazz can be done by anyone and that nobody needs to be intimidated by the concept of dancing to Jazz. Thus, Messin’ Around saw the launch of the popular feature of a 20 minute Jazz Dance show.
The Messin’ Around sound is music that makes you want to get up and get down and we hope that we have accomplished that.

SHIFTLESS SHUFFLE
Shiftless Shuffle the UK's only Street fusion Jazz dance lesson and ensuing club came into existence purely because people kept asking us where they could learn to dance like us. That's all the encouragement we needed to start a new venture. Since its inception, Shiftless Shuffle has played a major role in the life of the UK Jazz Dance scene. (see What's On).On the Musical and DJ front, we have given some young and fresh faced Jazz DJs the opportunity to spin alongside some incredible, experienced DJs of the Fusion Jazz scene, some are living icons. Our Christmas Specials featuring Gilles Peterson and Paul Murphy playing side by side are Legendary.
Our motto here is Keeping the Art of Street Fusion Jazz Dance alive.
Weak At The Knees
Weak At The Knees is our latest club ‘baby’, known as an all you can handle selection of Boogie, JazzFunk and Soul. The idea behind the club night was that we felt there was just nowhere to go if you want to her good quality Boogie and Jazz Funk. Disillusioned by the ‘Glamour Disco’ nights around London where you have to wear an Afro wig and platforms to get in, we wanted to show the quality side of a Music genre which has influenced so many Jazz Dancers in their time. In any one Weak at the Knees night, you can expect to hear some of the deepest and rarest Boogie tracks and most of them extract a loud ‘tuuuuuuuuuuune’ shout from the Regulars.

Host DJ Perry Louis
This man is Known as the Funkiest and Jazziest man in town and you will recognise him by his many hunreds of different hats. Perry started clubbing some 20 years ago and has toured around the world and worked with many of the major Jazz and Funk artistes both DJing and with Jazzcotech.
DJ Ronnie Coldsweat Like many of today's DJs, Ronnie used to club around and got into DJing some 15 Years ago.This man is Funky! Heavily into all things Prince, Cameo and Leroy Burgress, Ronnie will thump you with the bass lines like there's no tomorrow and no apologies for it.
DJ Lloyd the Boogie Boy
Most of us know Lloyd from legendary Gossip days where he teamed up with Clayeon to provide the Funk and the Boogie to balance Norman Jay's Rare Grooves. Lloyd just loves being out- such is his belief in all things Boogie.
Colin & Nicco Colin and Nicco are the Top Hats of London's Jazz, Funk and Boogie scene - everyone knows them! When it comes to tunes, these two know all there is to know about good quality JazzFunk; their nights are always hot and sweaty with everybody getting down and turning loose.
